On December 16, 2019 the Department of Labor (DOL) notified the Little Rock Workforce Development Board (LRWDB) that a $1.08 million YouthBuild Grant was approved to begin on January 1, 2020.
This grant represents the latest in a series of successful YouthBuild grants that the LRWDB has been awarded over multiple years: $1.1 million in 2010, $720,000 in 2014, and $900,000 in 2016.
YouthBuild programs across the nation are designed to help young people reach educational and careers milestones and equip them to be engaged in their communities. Using a pre-apprenticeship model, YouthBuild provides at-risk youth ages 16-24 with academic instruction and occupational skill development to obtain employment in construction and other in-demand industries.
