On November 26, 2018 the Little Rock Workforce Development Board (LRWDB) was notified of contingent approval for an Arkansas Expands Apprenticeship (AREA) grant. The AREA Second Round Continuation Funding Grant is in the amount of $85,500.
AREA Grants aim to increase registered apprentices by 10% in two years in targeted industries of Advanced Manufacturing, Transportation, Aerospace, Information Technology, and Construction.
Overall goals of the AREA grant program include:
- Strengthen employer and service provider partnerships
- Serve the needs of employers for a skilled workforce with low turnover
- Provide jobseekers with a career that provides a family sustaining wage
