The Little Rock Workforce Development Board (LRWDB) lost one of its longest serving members with the passing of Reverend James McCarther on September 10, 2020.
Mr. McCarther was first appointed to the LRWDB in July 2002, when it was known as the Little Rock Workforce Investment Board. He was a successful business person and servant leader both in his church and in the larger Little Rock community. He served many times as an officer and twice as Board Chair (July 1, 2004 – June 30, 2005 and July 1, 2009 – January 26, 2012). He was serving out the final month of his term as Vice Chair when he passed.
On October 23, 2014, Room 150 of the Little Rock Workforce Center – where the LRWDB meets – was renamed the McCarther-South Conference Room, in honor of his long and dedicated service.
LRWDB Executive Director, W. J. Monagle, noted “we will miss James’ penetrating questions, his wise and compassionate counsel, and above all else, his mirth and good humor. Rest in Peace Good Friend and Humble Servant.”
