The Little Rock Workforce Development Board (LRWDB) is participating in a series of Education Roundtables as part of the City’s ongoing Workforce Committee activities. Newly elected LRWDB Chair, Kristi Barr, who serves as Director of Workforce Development and Education at the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, actively supports the education initiative.
LRWDB Executive Director, W. J. Monagle, attended the first roundtable session on September 9 and the second roundtable discussion on October 17 at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technology College (UA-PTC) Business and Industry Center. Sheena Fluker, ResCare Project Director of Workforce Programs in Little Rock, attended the third roundtable on November 7 at Baptist Health College. A fourth roundtable meeting is scheduled for November 19 at Baptist Health College.
The City of Little Rock Workforce Committee is focused on networking across organizations to leverage resources in support of underserved populations in the city. Steve Biernacki, Executive Director of City Connections, is leading the Workforce Committee. The committee is working toward producing a report to Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. and his senior staff by early December.
The LRWDB is pleased to be part of this group of leaders – in education, business, health care, government and nonprofit organizations – who are focused on providing the city’s children and youth with a high-quality education. As Mayor Scott has stated, “Our city’s future is dependent on how well we train and prepare the next generation.”
