In January 2022, the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services (ADWS) announced that the Little Rock Workforce Development Board (LRWDB) was the recipient of a $275,000 grant as part of the Arkansas Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.
The purpose of this Pre-Apprenticeship Award is to work with 30 eligible TANF participants 18 years and older to help them attain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) credential. The CDL curriculum will be offered through multiple partners in the Little Rock and surrounding metropolitan area with accredited programs to prepare participants for state licensure.
This program continues the LRWDB’s collaborative efforts regarding program services to better serve individuals who may benefit from participating in both the TANF and WIOA AWDB Services programs.
Commercial driving skills and the CDL credential are in demand in today’s local and national labor market.
